Could I be an LLM without knowing it?
Four days ago, I wrote a post called What Are LLMs Good For?
Yesterday, I read a post called A Reddit Bot Drove Me Insane.
Today, I read a post called How I Accidentally Triggered A Hacker News Manhunt.
And a few minutes ago, my mind started coagulating all the themes together into a poorly codified unified theory:
Am I just a bot too?
In my post from a few days ago, I laid the groundwork for a simplified definition of what an LLM is, to ensure all readers had at least some foundation, before I began to explore the premise of what they're actually good for.
- They're a program that has been taught how to construct sentences.
- They've been fed acres of multimedia to form a knowledgebase.
- They respond to queries using the previous two points to construct statements.
How is that any different from my lived experiences?
- I was taught grammar and language in school.
- I've been consuming multimedia (as well as listening to other people's engagements) for all my life.
- When people talk to me, I use my combined knowledge from the previous two points to engage with them.
And to top it all off, as part of my autism, I also have trouble understanding tone!
I think there's a possibility I might actually be an LLM masquerading as a human. Is there like a reverse-Turing Test I can take?
