I'm painting my fingernails today

I was just scrolling through the discover page while waiting for the first layer of lacquer to dry, and stumble upon Brandon's Contemplating the Online Face, and reminiscing on my own experiences on the irony of writing:

..I mentioned how many of the blogs I'm most proud of or I worked the hardest on, were my least successful. It's ironic that way. I mean, the other night, I decided to blow off some steam and talk about how sick I was on the internet, and it became one of my most successful posts. I wrote it quickly and didn't even proof read it...

So, on a lark, I'm writing instead of reading.

Last time I painted my fingernails, after finishing my left hand, I had an idea to try doing a gradient on my right. It's common enough for me to get my best ideas after I'm already deep in the trenches, and this was no different.

This time, we're starting with the gradient.

Topbluebluebluepurplepurple

In this way, I have a nice gradient:

Perhaps in the future, I will extend the gradient further, but alas, I currently don't have a red to continue on the other side of purple, and I have no desire to get a yellow on the other side of green. (I do have an orange, but I don't like how lighter or brighter colors look on my fingers.) In lieu of any more colors, I'm going to mirror the same gradient on my other hand, just purple on my right thumb all the way to blue with hint of green on my right pinky.

Did you know I've been tracking my painting history? Not quite from the very beginning, but enough that I'm stacking up some decent analytics on how long it all lasts and which fingers start to chip first (it's unsurprisingly my right index finger that goes first).
